On a recent trip to Boulder, the That’s Natural team learned a great deal about the use of the words “Full Spectrum” in CBD products.  It appeared that nearly every single product was “Full Spectrum” – how could that possibly be?

Unfortunately, in the CBD industry, “Full Spectrum” has taken on the prevalence that “Organic” has in the food aisles.  Does it really mean that the product is natural or naturally full spectrum?  Absolutely not.  Just like in knowing where your food is actually coming from and if it truly is ‘organic’ – the buyer must be aware about what actually goes into that product that is called ‘full spectrum’.

Many companies use what is called a CBD Isolate and then purchase ‘terpenes’ from different sources and add those terpenes into the isolate formulation.  This is not a natural cannabinoid and terpene profile from an actual plant – instead it is a compilation of parts, that may resemble what a full spectrum oil actually is, but it is not – it is not a naturally occurring symbiosis of precious plant compounds.
