Full Spectrum Terpenes for Anxiety

CBD is often looked to for those struggling with anxiety. Research has shown that CBD has strong anxiolytic properties, but what about the other cannabinoids and terpenes? Are they useful for anxiety as well? As with most issues, these cannabinoids and terpenes work synergistically together, creating a much stronger affect.

D-Limonene

D-Limonene is a prominent compound in hemp that also has many anti-anxiety effects. The research published by Wellness Resources, explains that the anxiety was not only decreased, but many of the side effects of standard anxiety meds did not exist. The study concluded by saying:

“These results indicate that the properties of (+)-limonene epoxide should be more thoroughly examined in order to achieve newer tools for management and/or treatment of central nervous system diseases and anxiolytic-like effects. The LD50 obtained for the acute toxicity studies using intraperitoneal route of administration was 4.0 g/kg. These findings suggest that acute administration of the (+)-limonene epoxide exerts an anxiolytic-like effect on mice, and it could serve as a new approach for the treatment anxiety, since it practically does not produce toxic effects.”

Linalool

Linalool is yet another compound in the hemp plant that has anti-anxiety affects. This study by the National Institutes of Health explains in what ways Linalool helped. “Inhaled linalool showed anxiolytic properties in the light/dark test, increased social interaction and decreased aggressive behavior; impaired memory was only seen the higher dose of linalool. These results strengthen the suggestion that inhaling linalool rich essential oils can be useful as a mean to attain relaxation and counteract anxiety.”

Both of these terpenes are major terpenes in That’s Natural products. The products from That’s Natural are not an isolate, containing just CBD, but a full-spectrum product containing a variety of cannabinoids and terpenes.
