This week was an exciting one for the non-psychoactive cannabinoid – Cannabidiol (CBD). It was announced that there were preliminary findings proving that CBD could reduce the frequency and severity of epileptic seizures.
The University of Alabama (UAB) conducted the research. Jerzy P. Szaflarski, M.D., Ph.D., professor in the Department of Neurology and director of the UAB Epilepsy Center said, “It is encouraging that both frequency and severity of seizures appear to improve in the majority of patients in our study, patients who have limited treatment options”.
More awareness and acceptance of CBD as a healing agent is coming to light through research, which complements the thousands of individual accounts of people who have taken their life and health into their own hands using cannabinoids like CBD.
Human’s Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is what makes us able to respond to cannabinoids – we are pre-wired with receptors for cannabinoids throughout our body, and we make cannabinoids endogenously inside of us already – these are called endocannabinoids.
Other neurological and neurodegenerative conditions beyond epilepsy may benefit from supplementation with CBD, and there is also research (http://cbdoil.life/pages/thats-natural) showing that CBD (and other cannabinoids and terpenes) has the potential to treat cancer, anxiety, inflammation issues (like arthritis and irritable bowl syndrome), and more.
