Research on CBD (Cannabidiol)

Research Article From ‘Pharmacology’ – Cannabinoids for IBS

Here’s a link to the journal article “Cannabis finds its way into treatment of Crohn’s disease” – which highlights the use of cannabis/hemp for the treatment of inflammation of the intestines.

Cannabis, or hemp, is a plant that has been around for thousands of years, and used as medicine for the same amount of time – dating back to 2,700 BC in the world’s oldest pharmacopoeia, compiled in China – which indicated uses for cannabis including for rheumatic pain, intestinal constipation, disorders of the female reproductive system, and more.

From the abstract:

In ancient medicine, cannabis has been widely used to cure disturbances and inflammation of the bowel. A recent clinical study now shows that the medicinal plant Cannabis sativa has lived up to expectations and proved to be highly efficient in cases of inflammatory bowel diseases.

The Endocannabinoid System, which research is finding to be at the heart of many physiological functions, may play a major role in how bodies act and react to plant-based compounds like cannabinoids.
